Where We Offer Services

Hazel Erika Diaz is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is licensed to practise psychotherapy in Ontario and provides professional, ethical, and confidential therapy services under provincial regulation.

Because many Canadian provinces and territories do not currently regulate the title “psychotherapist”, Hazel can also offer virtual counselling and online therapy to clients living in the following jurisdictions:

  • Alberta

  • British Columbia

  • Manitoba

  • Saskatchewan

  • Newfoundland & Labrador

  • Yukon

  • Northwest Territories

  • Nunavut

If you live in a province that does regulate psychotherapy (Québec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island), you may still access coaching or supportive services, but psychotherapy requires registration with the local regulatory college.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Currently, Sama Counselling serves clients residing in Ontario. All sessions are conducted online via the secure Jane App. Additional provinces and territories will be added in the future.

  • All sessions are booked securely through our client portal on Jane App. Once booked, you’ll receive confirmation and any necessary pre-session information.

  • Yes! We offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to make therapy more accessible. Please reach out confidentially to discuss your eligibility.

  • Sama Counselling does not currently offer direct billing to insurance providers. However, you may be able to submit receipts to your insurance company for reimbursement. Invoices will include my supervisor’s credentials, which most insurance providers require for claims. We recommend checking with your insurance provider beforehand to confirm whether psychotherapy services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) are eligible for coverage.

  • Sessions are focused, structured, and tailored to your goals. Your first session will include a review of informed consent, confidentiality and privacy, completion of your intake form, and any questions you might have. During sessions, you may explore challenges, discuss strategies, and occasionally receive exercises or reflections to practice between sessions. Therapy is collaborative—your input is essential.

  • Session frequency varies depending on your goals and progress. Regular attendance helps achieve the best outcomes. If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time, but we allow a 20-minute grace period. During this time, I will send a reminder email to confirm your attendance. If you do not arrive within 20 minutes, the session may be considered a no-show and billed in full.

  • Payment is due at the end of each session and will be processed via credit card through the Jane App. Sliding scale options are available and must be discussed and agreed upon before the first session. Receipts can be provided for insurance reimbursement.

  • Yes. All information shared in sessions is confidential and protected under privacy laws. Exceptions include situations where there is risk of imminent harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse of a vulnerable person, or if legally required by a court order. Confidentiality also applies to the secure online platform we use, the Jane App.

  • Before your first session, please complete your intake form and note any questions or topics you want to discuss. This helps ensure the session is tailored to your needs and allows us to address administrative details such as informed consent and privacy policies efficiently.

  • Therapy with Sama Counselling is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Additional support can be accessed via the Calgary Distress Centre at (403) 266-4357, or the Suicide Crisis Helpline at 9-8-8. These resources are available 24/7.
